Lillian B. (Whalen) Smith

Lillian B. (Whalen) Smith, of Holbrook, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 11, 2017 at the age of 80. Born and raised in South Boston, Lillian graduated as the Valedictorian from Nazareth High School. She retired from Arbella Insurance and worked in the kitchen at Holbrook High School. Lillian was a devoted catholic and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Sodality. She was also former member the Friends of the Holbrook Nursing Home and was involved with the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Lillian was a life-long Red Sox fan and loved to bake pies, coffee cakes, and birthday cakes. Most of all, she was devoted to her husband, kids, grandchildren, and family.

Beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Smith. Loving mother of Arthur Smith, Jr. and his wife Agatha of Weymouth, Kenneth Smith and his wife Brenda of Somers, NY, and Lorraine Curtin and her husband Daniel of Cohasset. Devoted sister of Marie Bevacqua of Quincy, Martin Whalen of Brockton, John Whalen of Squantum, Helen Audette of Quincy, Florence Higgins of Bourne, William Whalen of GA, and Rita O’Connell of Weymouth. Dear grandmother of Cody, Matthew, Daniel, Julia, and Layne. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home, 127 SouthFranklin Street (Rt. 37), Holbrook, on Friday, September 15th at 9:45am followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Holbrook at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, September 14th from 4-8pm. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lillian’s memory to CatholicTV, P.O. Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
