Francis A. Rota

Francis (Cesci) A. Rota of Randolph passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on November 18, 2023, at the age of eighty-two. He was the beloved husband of Jean Carol, (Stymest) Rota for 63 years; the loving father of Kenneth Rota and his wife Carol of New Hampshire, Vincent Rota and his wife Michelle of East Bridgewater, Greg Rota and his wife Lori of Grafton, Anthony Rota and his wife Eileen of Carver, and Elise Cahill and her husband Michael of Randolph. He was the cherished Papa of Patrick, James, Joseph, Matthew, Darci, Ally, John, and Christopher Rota, Heather, Cristina, Jackie and Thomas Cahill. He is survived by his brother George Rota of Randolph, and was predeceased by his brothers Louis Rota of Marlboro, Daniel Rota of Quincy, John Rota of Marlboro, William Rota of Avon, and Ria D’Andrea of Quincy, and many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Cesci and his wonderful sense of humor.

Cesci was born in Boston on August 24, 1941, to the late John C. and Florence (Lanata) Rota. He grew up in Dorchester and moved to Randolph when he was in high school. He graduated from the Brockton Trade School. He raised his family in Randolph where he lived at the time of his passing.

Cesci was proud to be a Randolph Firefighter for 34 years, retiring in 2004. He was one of the first 100 EMTs certified in the state. He was best known for his tremendous work ethic and his infectious laugh, always keeping his fellow firefighters chuckling during their long shifts. In addition to serving as a firefighter, he was known for his carpentry skills and helped build many homes in the Randolph area.

One of his favorite pastimes was vacationing at the home he meticulously remodeled on Moose Pond in Maine, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling and spending time with his family. Cesci also loved to cook and host family Holiday dinners. His special homemade pies were made with love and left everyone wanting more than one slice. Some of our favorite memories of Papa are of him in the kitchen with his apron on trading funny stories with his grandkids while carving the turkey.

The family invites you to join them for a period of visitation on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home at 134 South Main Street, Randolph, MA. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Central Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Cesci’s name be made to any charity of your choice.
