I'm so sorry for your loss. Bobby was a great guy and coworker. He is missed so much and I'm heartbroken for his family and close friends. I was fortunate to have spent a few hours after work with him at a retirement party for another coworker. He will never be forgotten. Praying for all who loved him.
My sincerest condolences,

I’m going to miss hanging out with Bobby at Sammy’s Barbershop shop with Pat Gallagher and joking about “the good old days!” Also going to miss the conversations about girls and the decibel level getting louder and louder. Its seems like all us Johnston’s have loud voices so Sammy would have to kick us out the back so we don’t scare off his customers!! Lol ?
Smoking my first joint (around 1985ish) w/ Bobby and Kenny in his bad ass dark blue Mazda RX-7. Except it was a 2 seater so Kenny and I would switch (who gets to sit squished in the hatch back section) sitting in the front seat. When I asked Bobby back then, “why a 2 seater?” He said, “I just need room for me & a blonde ?‍♀️.” Loved his aviator sunglasses he always wore! He always looked great & kept his youthful looks his whole life!!
Always had a smile and a hug when u haven’t seen him for a while. He always made sure you were ok and he would offer help in any way he could.
I will also always remember he was quick with a joke but serious when he was supposed to be. But most of all I will remember how faithful and devoted Bobby was to his family. Both immediate and to his Mom (my aunt Ruthie) and Dad (my Uncle Bob)! and he always talked about his love for his wife Birgitt and son’s Robert & Nicholas whom he cherished every minute with.
I practically grew up my younger years (1980’s) spending my summers in Avon w/ Kenny & Frankie. We always looked up to Robert and Steven.
Back when wearing a jean jacket w/ a Van Halen patch on the back was cool! And we would learn about cars as we watched young teenage Steven always working on his w/ his bad ass convertible mustang (?). I remember Robert always asking, “where’s Steven?” Because he loved hanging w/ his brother.
I remember hearing the loudest motorcycle pipes as Bobby would be doing a wheelie coming up the hill on highland street. I remember my uncle Bob coming out of house & yelling at him to “slow down!” “& watch out for the kids!” Then Bobby looking like a commercial for Marlboro man. Would slowly get off his bike & take off his egg shell helmet (so not to mess his hair) & pull out a smoke & light his cigarette that special way he does with both hands. BUT he never took off his shades! No way! Saying “it’s ok!” “The old man just get’s worried that’s all!”
Going to miss my cousin! I wish I spent more time with! Robert is the epitome of coolness! Why do all the good die young?
When I think of Bobby I will always smile because all of my memories of him are of him smiling ? and being cool! I love you Bobby! And u too Kenny, Frankie & Uncle Bob & Aunt Ruth! I miss my family!

We are so sad to hear that Rob has been taken from this life so tragically and so young.
I will always remember the day the Johnston’s moved to Highland street and me and Cathy Lynch stood at the fence separating their yards and we saw the two adorable boys who moved in. I was so hoping I could babysit being all of 4 yrs older than Rob. Not sure that ever happened but he (and Stephen) did grow up to be an also adorable young rabble rouser and good friends with my brother John and sista Cynde. They were quite the gang hangin the Rock at the end of the street doing all things I probably did before them. Lol!! I’ve run into Rob and Brigett at Shooters a few years back and he was still adorable and the funny, flirting guy I remember from my younger days.
You will be sadly missed by many Rob. Till we meet again….
With our sincere condolences to all, Mell and Butch

My deepest condolences to all who knew him. Working with Bobby was a special experience; he often shared about times working elsewhere in the past, and because we both ride motorcycles, we immediately had a sort of connection that only riders would understand. On top of that I also played hockey, so we had more than one parallel perspective, and yet another topic of enjoyable discussion. He is gone too soon, and will be missed by many here at Teledyne.

My deepest condolences to your family in this time of grieving.

I had the pleasure of managing Bobby at Teledyne. He was my team leader who knew how to keep everyone smiling through the ups & downs of the job with his wit and deep laugh.

But better yet, he was an amazing, one-of-a-kind person who I am better for knowing, He always knew just the right thing to do in all situations and always included everyone.

I was shocked and saddened to find out we aren't able to hear his voice again. He was a very good man and will be missed everyday.
