Anna H. (Stockwell) Minnehan

Anna Helen (Stockwell) Minnehan, age 92, a longtime resident of Avon and Bonita Springs Florida, died October 20, 2023 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas (Eddie) E Minnehan. Anna was born and raised in Avon, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Jenny (Rosenberg) Stockwell. As a child her life consisted of school and working on the family’s 100-acre farm. As a teenager her passion was roller skating which is where she met her husband, Eddie.

Anna graduated from Avon High School in 1948 and married Eddie March 3, 1951. The young couple built a small ranch in Avon, with both of them participating in the construction of the home.

Anna and her family spent their vacation time camping and later swimming and boating at the family cottage on Widgeon Pond in Plymouth.
She was an AT&T telephone operator for 24 years and a member of the Brockton Telephone Pioneers.

Anna and Eddie enjoyed traveling. Their trips included: Hawaii, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Holland, Costa Rica, Germany, Austria, Bermuda, St. Thomas and Spain.

During retirement, Anna and Eddie built a home in Sebastian, Florida and later moved to Bonita Springs, Florida. Anna was a Vero Beach Big Sister and loved her mentoring role.
She took computer, writing and painting courses at the local college. Anna wrote many short stories about her life. She drew many portraits of famous singers and entertainers many of which she had autographed during her trips to Branson, Missouri.

In her early 70’s she experienced a life altering stroke. She was determined and worked hard to adapt to her new normal. One of her favorite sayings was, “If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.”
For the last 5 years, Anna was a resident of Baypointe Rehab Center. She enjoyed painting, live music performances and loved assembling jigsaw puzzles. The facility was very accommodating and provided space for her to continue painting. Shortly before COVID the facility held an “auction” of her paintings. Many residents were excited to own an Anna Minnehan original.

She is survived by her loving children Rosemary Minnehan and her wife Jean of Cambridge, Diane Peterson and her husband Glenn of Avon, Maureen Barbuto and her husband William Jr. of Easley SC, Russell Minnehan and his wife Kathy of Westport. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Eleanor Ceniseroz of Fall River, Logan Minnehan of Westport, William Barbuto of Easley SC, and Michael Peterson of Avon. She was thrilled when her first great grandchild Saphira Ceniseroz was born in 2021. She was the sister of the late Phyllis Stockwell, Elsie Hughes and Shirley Warwick.

Visiting hours will be held October 26, from 4 – 7 pm at the Hurley Funeral Home 134 S. Main Street Randolph. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory - Massachusetts | American Heart Association.
