Maryjane 'Jane' Murray

On Tuesday, August 1, Maryjane Murray (Jane) of Rockland, entered into eternal peace, surrounded by family and friends that loved her.

She is survived by her siblings John and his wife Pam of Yankton, South Dakota, Steve and his wife, Deb, also of Yankton, SD, Paula Murray Johnston, and her husband Bob of Abington, Robert Murray of Hingham, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Born to Marian and Bob Murray in Quincy Ma., Jane graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and Bridgewater State University where she earned her degree in teaching. Jane taught in the Randolph school system for many years.

Jane had three passions: caring for children, helping others, and the Boston Red Sox. Jane left teaching to become a nanny (always multiples) and this is where she truly shined. She loved and cherished all her babies, and always said how blessed she felt to have shared in their lives. Elizabeth, Grace, and Daniel Harrington were to her, "her children by another mother.” Jane was always the first to say "how can I help" and she loved nothing better than to chip in on a project and work with her hands. If you needed a tool… Jane had it. Jane started ‘Cousins Lunch’ and it was her favorite social activity, where the bond of family grew stronger because of it. Jane helped hundreds of people in their journey with sobriety and they lost a great friend and advocate. For Jane, everything was "easy peezy" and her motto was “let go and let God.” Everyone will miss her tenacious presence deeply.

Visiting hours will be held at Hurley Funeral Home,134 S. Main Street (Rt. 28) in Randolph on Friday, August 4th from 10am-12pm followed by a funeral service at 12pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Red Sox Foundation or the Jimmy Fund in Jane’s honor.

I met my friend Jane in 1985, back in our early days in Abingrton Friday Night. We walked many minutes, hours, weeks, days and months together, one day at a time. Thanks for the power of example, my friend. You have finished the race with much grace, and will be missed dearly.

You were my first sponsor when I moved to this area. Thank you for years of care. I can't believe you are gone but I'm sure you will be active in that great meeting above.
