Joanne M. (Strangio) Kelly

Joanne M. (Strangio) Kelly, of Holbrook, passed away March 13, 2023 at the age of 76. Daughter of the late Ann and Joseph Strangio. Beloved wife of the late George; Mother to Erin of Abington; Dog-mom to her beloved Charlie and to Bob (deceased) who provided her countless hours of companionship and comfort.
Sister of Francis Strangio and his wife Pat of Watertown and to Paul Strangio.

Aunt to Mark and his wife Melissa, Mike and wife Dana, and Todd and his wife April Strangio. Also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joanne worked most of her life and spent the last 20 plus years of work at Costco before her retirement. She loved to listen to music, especially Queen; cooking a feast for Christmas, playing cards with the card crew, and especially loved trips to the casino with her friends, her daughter, and both their friends. Las Vegas and the Bahamas were her favorite vacation spots and she always loved to try a new restaurant.

She had special friendships with so many people but specifically Jackie Farrell and Carole Victor whose friendships spanned 50 years that included countless trips, many laughs and good times, and they also survived many hardships together. They have stood by each other always.

She fought cancer for thirteen long years with a smile and a positive outlook on life. She loved life and wanted to live what limited time she knew she had to the fullest. She will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook, on Wednesday, March 22nd from 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 23rd at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment Union Cemetery, Holbrook.

Wish you were here because I could use a hug and your friendship right now, you are always the person to comfort me and raise my spirits whenever I've needed a friend. I am forever grateful for our friendship and the opportunity to raise our families together. I will miss your laughter, sharing lunches, endless card games, and your stubborn ways. Life won't be the same without all of our traveling adventures, late-night excursions to the casino and weekends away. Mostly I'll miss you by my side! A piece of me will always be with you and you will every day remain with me. I love you, Jackie

Franny, Pat & family ... I remember Joanne & George from get togethers at your place when I was younger. I remember the fun you all shared and the laughter - could hear it downstairs with Nana. Having not seen Joanne in a long time, I bet I could have still picked her out in a crowd and, from the info, she sounds like the same warm, caring person as always. How bittersweet that she's no longer suffering and now the family feels a different hurt. Know we're thinking of and LOVE you all too ... My hearts with you! Love, Kathy & family

There are no words to describe the loss of a close friend. All I know is that my heart is breaking and I am very sad. Erin, it was an honor to be your mother’s friend. I will always cherish the friendship we had and will never forget all of the fun things we did. I am sure Joanne is in heaven now and trying to organize a card game or a trip to a casino. Take care and be strong. Love Paula
