Joseph Johnston

Joseph Johnston, of Randolph, died peacefully on January 3, 2023 at the age of 95.

Joseph was born on March 1, 1927, to James and Louise Johnston. During World War II, he followed in his brother Jimmy’s footsteps, enlisting in the Navy where he served on the USS Wiley. Upon returning home, Joe became a member of Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers, which he belonged to for 70 years. He worked under his father James, at Johnson Sheet Metal in Holbrook, MA. Upon retirement, he passed the business on to his son. Joseph was married to his wife Josephine for 68 years. Together, they raised their two children in his childhood home. Throughout his life and in retirement, Joe was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Joseph is predeceased by his parents, James and Louise Johnston, and brother, James Johnston. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Johnston; his siblings: Joan Lund, Jane Richardi, and Judy Cooke; his children: Anna Jacobs (husband Ralph) and Joseph Johnston (wife Kathleen); grandchildren: Kathryn Cervelli, Jacob Johnston, and Joleen Johnston; and great-granddaughter: Alice Cervelli

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Church in Randolph on Wednesday, January 11th at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A private burial will be held at MA National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours are omitted. Late US Navy Veteran.
