Nancy J. (Smart) Spiro

Nancy J. (Smart) Spiro, age 73, of Randolph died peacefully in her sleep on December 15, 2022. Nancy, daughter of Earl and Lorraine, older sister Joan, and younger sister Kathleen, was born in Stoughton but raised in Randolph. Nancy graduated from Randolph High School in 1967. In 1970, Nancy married Thomas D. Spiro where they lived for a short time in Holbrook. Soon thereafter, Nancy and Tom built their home and set their roots in Randolph to begin their family. Loving mother of Thomas Spiro Jr. and his wife Mallory of Abington, Tammy MacDonald and her husband Mark of Pembroke, and Nicholas Spiro and Colleen Fiumara of Halifax. Proud and loving Nanny to Brady, Jack, Lexington, Lennox, Evan, and Lucas.

Nancy was a woman of tremendous strength and passion in every facet of her life. She deeply loved her family and cherished every occasion they were all together. She adored her children and grandchildren to her core. Nancy welcomed her daughters-in-law- and son-in-law like her own children.

Nancy's love and passion extended to her large group of friends and neighbors from Randolph. She relished being in their company and was always the life of the party. Dancing, toasting, playing games and wrestling with her grandchildren always brought her so much happiness and joy. Nancy was renowned for her sense of style and flair and was nicknamed "Fancy Nancy" by many.

While her children were young, Nancy wrote for the Brockton Enterprise. She later found her passion in real estate and began working for Todd Sandler Realtor for twenty years.

Nancy Spiro leaves an incredible legacy to emulate: family, humility, strength, compassion, and her love of life.

Visitation will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main Street (Rt. 28) in Randolph on Wednesday December 21, 2022, from 4-7pm. A small, family ceremony will be held Thursday at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, Nancy supported and loved our veterans. Donations can be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation via https://t2t.org/.

I knew Nancy as Nick’s mom, he grew up with my son Mark. He played baseball with my kids. Tom was a great friend of Tom, they enjoyed the track and often ran into each other there. Occasionally, they met at Saratoga. Tom Griffin admired Tom for his dedication to his wife’s care. He was very loving caregiver to his wife as well as a caring and dedicated husband and Dad. Nancy was always involved with their kids and their biggest cheerleaders. We are saddened by her death and offer our prayers and support to Tom and the bids in this difficult time.

Tom, Tommy, Tammy & Nick
No woman ever loved her family more. She was so grateful for all of you and you were so devoted to her. As a friend for 35 years, i can say without hesitation that she was one of a kind….filled with energy, honesty and FUN, with a capital F. She was always a fashion plate, full of stories and laughs and if there was a chance to dance at any occasion, she and Tom were on the dance floor. She loved a good time, the casino, her many friends and most especially her family. I treasure memories of our Friday nights at O’Donnells, our trips to Vegas, Myrtle Beach etc.. I will miss her for the rest of my life and I will thank Gid for the pleasure of knowing her so well and loving her so long. She was a treasure! Ellie Nagle

Our sincerest condolences for the family during this tough time. Without knowing her in person, she sounds like the type of lady we would have loved to be associated with. Tom Jr. would tell us stories at work of how she cheered him on through school and his smile would light up the room. Rest in peace and God Bless.
