Joan E. (Hare) Lyons
Joan E. (Hare) Lyons, formerly of Avon, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, after a brief illness, at the age of 83. She was the beloved wife of the late George F. Lyons, Jr.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude Hare. Joan was a graduate of Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in Dorchester. She had been a resident of Avon for 52 years prior to moving to All American Assisted Living in Raynham. She enjoyed taking island vacation cruises and trips to Disney World and Foxwoods. Her hobbies included ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, cribbage, bingo and playing cards.
She was the loving mother of Joyce McNeill of Norton, George F. Lyons, III and his wife Cheryl of East Taunton, Kelli MacLeod of North Easton and the late Scott Lyons. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Briana, Brendan, Tyler and Zachary. Sister-in-law of Carol Hare of East Falmouth. Sister of the late Lillian Ross and Gerard Hare. She also leaves several nieces and a nephew.
Funeral from The Hurley Funeral Home, 134 South Main Street (Rt. 28), Randolph on Friday, June 3rd at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Michael Church in Avon at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, June 2nd from 4-7p.m. Internment St. Michael Cemetery, Avon.
