Marianne (Daly) Morelli

Marianne (Daly) Morelli, aged 75, originally from Holbrook, MA passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 in the comfort of her home in Oak Bluffs, MA surrounded by her loving family. She now joins her parents, George and Rita Daly, her sister Rita Ann Daly and her youngest son Timothy Morelli in a better place.

Affectionately known as “Mini,” Marianne was a caring, selfless, warm-hearted mother of five. Along with husband of 53 years, Jerry Morelli, they raised George Morelli (Easton, MA), Celia Gillis (Oak Bluffs, MA), Steven Morelli (Braintree, MA), Jerry Morelli (Williamsburg, VA) and Timothy Morelli mainly in Holbrook, just steps from the home she grew up in. She loved gardening, reading and the Red Sox. Family was always her top priority and she spent virtually every minute trying to make their lives happy. She was a fantastic cook and tireless Mom, juggling the schedules of five active kids and keeping them in line. Mini made everyone feel comfortable and loved and welcomed her children-in-law as her own: Jill Morelli (George), Peter Gillis (Celia), Lynai Morelli (Steven) and Carrie Morelli (Jerry).

Marianne was the second of four sisters and is survived by Celia Blakemore (New Bedford, MA, husband William Blakemore) and Marjorie Tracy (Houston, TX, husband Thomas Tracy). She graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and received a degree in Philosophy from Stonehill College. In addition to being an unparalleled homemaker, Marianne also made a career out of caring for people in various settings. Her jobs included early years at a nursing home, teaching special needs children and caring for adults with intellectual disabilities. She was truly special in her ability and desire to help people that needed it. Mini was a constant worrier and apologizer. She never wanted anyone’s feelings to be hurt. Much too often, her sentences began with, “Sorry, I feel bad….” She just cared so much for everyone else that she literally could not help it.

Mini shined brightest as a loving grandmother to Peter, Marin, Matthew, Nicholas, Jordan, James and Evynn. She had a special bond with each and every one and could chat easily with them at all ages. She was always young at heart and enjoyed playing their games and sharing ice cream, cotton-candy, popcorn and fun. Marianne / Mini will be dearly missed.

Funeral from the Hurley Currie Funeral Home, 127 So. Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Holbrook on Thursday, June 24th at 9:15am followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church in Holbrook at 10am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd from 4-8pm. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, please support the Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard.

I remember Mini from Holbrook. My son Nicholas went to school with Timmy and she and I would talk after picking them up from school. She was a wonderful person, always a positive attitude, and was missed when she left Adams Street. My deepest condolences.
