Wayne M. Carrel

Wayne Mark Carrel, 72, died unexpectedly March 3, 2021 at his family home in Avon. Born in Braintree, Wayne was raised and educated in Avon, graduating from Avon High School in 1967. He attended SMU for 2 years before leaving college to enlist in the United States Army during the height of the Vietnam war to proudly to serve our great country.

After his military service, he went back SMU and earned his degree in Engineering and went on to have an incredible career working the oil industry all over the world for over 40 years; including Africa, Venezuela, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South America. He worked the last 20 years in Dubai UAE, building some of the largest offshore oil platforms in the world.

Wayne loved his trips home to spend time with family and friends. He was an amazing man with endless stories of his work and travels. He was a proud member on the Avon VFW.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents Wayne and Catherine (Sullivan) Carrel. He is survived by his sister Geraldine Matty and her husband Ken of Cape Cod, his brother Owen Carrel and his wife Linda of Avon, and his brother Paul and wife Kelley of Avon. Also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kara (Matty) Kistler and husband Michael of CT and their daughters Addy and Nora, Owen Carrel Jr and his wife Danielle of Middleboro, Austin Carrel of Avon, and Katherine and Lauren Carrel of Avon.

A funeral mass will be held at St Michael’s Church in Avon on Wednesday, March 17th at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to the burial at St Michael’s cemetery at 11:15am. Covid-19 precautions will be in place. Visiting hours are omitted. Arrangements handled by the Hurley Funeral Home, Randolph.
