Lawrence 'Bubba' G. Lohnes
Lawrence G. "Bubba" Lohnes, 71, beloved husband of Kathleen (Albert) Lohnes for 51 years, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 2, 2021.
Born in Boston, son of the late George & Mary (Caulfield) Lohnes, a graduate of Avon High School Class of 1967, he lived in Avon for the past 55 years. A retired Boston Firefighter, Bubba lived every one of his days to the fullest. He was an avid golfer and longtime member at D.W. Field Golf Course in Brockton, Randolph Elks, the Board of Directors at Anchor House in Plymouth and a proud member of the Boston Fire Department Aerial Drill Team. A friend of Bill W.'s for over 30 years, he was forever grateful to the program and for all of the people he met through it.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he leaves behind his children who loved him so much, Kenneth Lohnes and his wife Millie of Avon, Stacey Peloquin and her husband Jeffrey of Stoughton and Shannon Oteri and her husband Paul of Avon. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Lohnes, Alex & Kyle Peloquin, Madelyn, Kathie & Christine Oteri and joins in heaven, baby Anthony Oteri.
He leaves his loving siblings; Mary & Dwight Hutchinson, Pat Lohnes and Dolly Elms all of Florida, Paul & Tina Lohnes of Tennessee, Donna & the late Frederick Ballantyne of W. Bridgewater, Jane & Jay O'Neil of Bridgewater, Tom Lohnes & Lynne Connolly of Randolph, and Barbara & Wayne Bernasconi of Dennis. He is predeceased by brothers John & George. He leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Tuesday, March 9th from 4:30-7pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Covid-19 precautions will be in place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bubba's name to Boston Firefighters Local 718 Children's Fund, 55 Hallett Street, Boston MA 02124.

Bubba,
Thank you for being such a great husband, father and grandfather to all of my cousins! I’ll also never forget how awesome you were towards my siblings and I in our childhood - and what a power of example you’ve been for me in my own journey through recovery.
Your passing leaves a void which may never be filled in the Walsh family. You truly have a special place in not only my Mothers heart, but all of ours. (Even though when I was young, I did always have a feeling you were Santa, since you two had the same big booming voice!)

No one is meant to live forever and, unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to every last one of our beloved friends and family members. Bubba is my cousin and with his loss my first thought was shock but cannot find the words to describe my sadness. Fortunately, I am able to go back in the past and remember the fun and adventurist times Bubba and I had as kids in the streets of Roxbury together. Even as kids Bubba was charismatic and always had a big laugh. No matter what I say, I can never bring you Bubba back to life, but when I think of him, I will remember his big smile and his willingness to tell you a story. Just not sure where to even begin to say how important Bubba is to all of us. He became the patriach for me and in an Irish family that is an amazing role. He was there in good times (which there were many!) but also in bad times, having our backs and showing us love and support. He was truly one of kind. Shannon, Stacey and Kenny, I know how blessed we all are to have such amazing Dad’s. Let your memories sustain you. Kathy, when we talk about Bubba, it is always phrased as Bubba and Kathy. I was so very sorry to hear about Larry. Such a huge loss.
Larry came into our office for many years and each time was a delight.He was always so happy and kept us all in stitches. His appointment would be at a certain time and he always came early and stayed well after the visit. We hated to see him leave the office.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, they help my whole family during this time ! I will miss my father everyday.
