Dennis J. Cavanaugh

Dennis John Cavanaugh, 69, a longtime resident of Middleboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 after a brief hospitalization. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Ann (McLaughlin) Cavanaugh to whom he was wed for 36 years. Dennis was born in Brockton, MA, to James Francis Cavanaugh and Loretta Mae (Morgan) Cavanaugh and raised in Randolph, graduated Randolph High School in 1968 and was a member of the AMVETS Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps.

Beloved father of Michael Patrick Cavanaugh and Daniel James Cavanaugh of Middleboro and devoted grandfather of Logan James Cavanaugh. Dennis also leaves behind his dear brother James Cavanaugh of Mansfield and his wife Cynthia, his sister Kathleen Silva of Wareham, his brother Richard Cavanaugh and his partner Jenny Golden of Easton, his sister Gloria Sullivan and her husband Arthur of Randolph, his brother Russell Cavanaugh and his wife Laurie of Myrtle Beach, his brother Robert Cavanaugh and his wife Randi of West Bridgewater, his brother David Cavanaugh and his wife Patricia of Mansfield, his brother Ronald Cavanaugh and his wife Amy of New Bedford and many his nieces nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved sister Madeline Ann Heffernan.

Dennis retired from Ace Glass in West Roxbury on January 14, 2020. A Mayflower descendant, he loved spending time with his grandson and family; walks by the Cape Cod Canal, and golfing.

Visiting hours will be held at the Hurley Funeral Home, 134 So. Main St. (Rt. 28), Randolph on Tuesday February 4, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. with a memorial service on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 beginning at 10:30 a.m and burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dennis’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

To the Cavanaugh family - Dennis was a great guy. We haven't seen much of each of other the past few years. However, the good times we had always brings a smile to my face. Dennis was just a great guy with a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to the entire Cavanaugh family from the Hutchinson family. I have known Dennis since first grade through Jr. and Sr. High School. My brother Fred and I were also in the Amvets Brigadiers Drum & Bugle Corp.with Dennis, Jimmy and Kathy. I fondly remember all those good memories knowing Dennis. Praying for your family.
